Why is converting pdf to jpg for free so complicated?

All I need is to turn a 3-page PDF into JPG images to upload to an online portal, and every free site I try either slaps a huge watermark on it or asks for my credit card at the very last step. Why is a simple PDF to JPG conversion such a headache on Windows, and is there actually a straightforward way to do it without paying?

had the same thing last month when i needed preview pics of my checklists. i just open the pdf in edge, zoom each page and snip it with the snipping tool, save as jpg. no watermark no card needed. tbh windows has all that already so it’s not really complicated if you skip the websites.

It is super frustrating how those sites always hide the paywall until the very end. I deal with this constantly when trying to upload scanned field drawings. Just go to pdfcap.com and use their PDF to JPG tool instead. You literally just drag your file onto the page, hit convert, and it downloads clean image files for every page without asking for a card.

If the PDF is not sensitive, I usually use PDF24 Creator on Windows. Open the file, choose PDF to Images, select JPG, and save each page as its own image with no account or card needed. You can also open it in Chrome or Edge and print to PDF, but PDF24 is much less fiddly for this. Check the portal’s required image size before uploading, since very high-resolution JPGs can be rejected.

Ha, the classic bait and switch, those sites bank on you giving up at the credit card page. Since you’re on Windows, skip the websites and grab PDF24 Creator, it’s a free desktop app, no watermark, no card. Just drag your PDF in, hit save as images, and you get one JPG per page. I use it at the help desk for this all the time.
