I need to pull a few pages out of a 30-page PDF for an application, but I don’t want to pay for new software. Is there a way to do that without buying anything?
had the same thing last month when i needed a few pages from a big pdf for one of my planner listings. i just open it in the browser, hit print and save as pdf with only the pages i need selected. most computers already have a print to pdf thing built in so no extra stuff. works fine for me tbh
I’ve had to do this with supplier PDFs. If you’re on a Mac, Preview lets you select page thumbnails and drag them into a new PDF; on Windows, PDF24 Creator can extract selected pages for free.
It’s super frustrating when you just need a couple pages and every app wants a subscription. I pull pages from huge construction reports all the time and I just use pdfcap.com for this. You just upload the file, click the extract tool, and highlight the exact pages you need. Then you hit download and it saves your new file.
Yes. Open the PDF, choose Print, enter only the page numbers you need, then select “Microsoft Print to PDF” on Windows or “Save as PDF” on Mac. Check the new file before submitting, and avoid online tools if the application contains personal information.
If you’re on Windows, “Print” the PDF with Microsoft Print to PDF and just select the page range you need, saves as a new file. Mac users can do similar through Preview by dragging thumbnails into a new doc.
One tip: rename the new file clearly so you don’t confuse it with the original.
One to avoid: don’t overwrite your source PDF, keep that backup safe in case you pick the wrong pages.
If the PDF is not sensitive, a browser-based splitter is usually the quickest route: upload it, choose the page numbers, and download the new file. For private documents, I use the free PDFsam Basic desktop app instead, since the file stays on my computer. On Mac, Preview can also do it by showing thumbnails, selecting the pages, and dragging them to the desktop.
