I need to extract just a few pages from a 40-page PDF report for class, but every tool I find wants a paid subscription. Is there any way to split these pages completely free?
had the same thing last month with a long catalog i only needed a few sheets from. just opened the pdf in my browser, hit print, picked only those pages and saved as pdf. tbh thats all i use for my own planner files too. completely free, no extra stuff.
Open the PDF, choose Print, enter the page range, then select “Microsoft Print to PDF” or “Save as PDF” instead of a printer. That creates a new file with only those pages for free. Avoid online splitters if the report contains personal information.
Make a backup copy first, then just use your Print dialog, no need for fancy software. Open the PDF, hit print, choose “Microsoft Print to PDF” as the printer, type in the page range you want, and save as a new file. Works a treat and costs nothing.
One thing to avoid: don’t just screenshot the pages, the text goes all blurry and useless for class.
If you only need a few pages, most free PDF readers can do it through Print, then choose the page range and “Save as PDF” as the printer. On Windows, Microsoft Print to PDF usually works; Preview does the same on Mac. If the report is sensitive, I’d use that rather than uploading it to an online tool.
