My lecture notes PDF has huge blank margins and class is tomorrow. I tried cropping one page and the text got clipped on the side. Can quick PDF crop trim all of them cleanly?
had the same thing last month with some planner pages. cropping one by one clipped the edges every time the alignment was off. tbh i just use the print option on my phone and scale it to like 90 percent so the blank margins disappear. not super clean but it got me through without messing up the text.
@ClumsyRed That is a smart trick. I have done the same when time was short. One thing to check is the fit to page setting so it does not reflow the text. Did the 90 percent keep your notes legible?
Dealing with massive margins on documents is super annoying. I use PDFcap for this because it handles batch cropping easily without cutting off your text. Just upload your file to pdfcap.com, draw the crop box around the actual text on one page, and hit the apply to all pages button. I do this all the time for site drawings and it works perfectly.
It can apply one crop box to every page, but only if the margins are consistent. Test on a copy and check a few pages from the beginning, middle, and end before saving; avoid aggressive auto-crop since handwritten notes near the edges can get clipped.
I had this with supplier invoices. It can crop every page, but preview a few first and leave a small safety margin, since pages with slightly shifted text can get clipped.

Check if your reader has a “crop all pages” option rather than doing it manually per page, uneven margins are why your text got clipped, one page’s crop box doesn’t fit another.

Avoid dragging the crop handles by eye, use a percentage or fixed margin value if the app offers it so it stays consistent across pages.
Keep a copy of the original before you start, cropping is often destructive and you don’t want to redo this at midnight.
