Does anyone know how to remove permission from PDF files quickly?

I have a PDF that won’t let me print or copy any text from it, and it says some permissions are restricted. I’ve got a bunch of these to deal with before a deadline, so is there a quick way to lift those restrictions?

had the same thing last month with some files i got from a vendor. tbh if print and copy are both blocked i just asked them to resend without the restrictions because i didn’t have a quick way myself. for a deadline that was faster than trying to fight it. fwiw i don’t lock mine like that when i sell planners.

See these all the time at the help desk. Fastest trick: open the PDF in Chrome, hit print, pick Save as PDF, and the new copy usally drops the print and copy restrictions. If you’ve got a big batch, qpdf with --decrypt runs from the command line so you can script it. Only works on files that open without a password though, real DRM won’t budge.
