I’m trying to print a PDF as a folded booklet, but the pages keep coming out in regular order. Is there a setting I’m missing?
had the same thing last month with one of my planner pdfs. the pages stay in order unless you enable booklet printing in the printer properties. tbh look under layout or finishing for saddle stitch or booklet mode and make sure duplex is on. that rearranges everything so it folds into a proper booklet.
Booklet printing is super annoying when the pages won’t line up right. I usually fix this right in Adobe Acrobat. When you hit print, look under the Page Sizing and Handling section and click the Booklet button. If it still fights you, I just run the file through PDFcap to format the layout properly first, then print it like a normal document.
In Adobe Acrobat Reader, open Print and choose “Booklet” under Page Sizing & Handling. Set Booklet subset to Both sides if your printer supports duplex, and binding to Left. Tip: test with four pages first; avoid choosing regular “Multiple” pages per sheet.
-
Check your print dialog for a “booklet” or “two-sided, short-edge binding” option, usually under Page Setup or the printer’s own properties menu, not the app’s own.
-
If your software has no booklet layout option, print to “Microsoft Print to PDF” first with booklet settings, then send that to your real printer.
Don’t just select “multiple pages per sheet” thinking it’s the same thing, it isn’t, and you’ll end up with pages in the wrong order again. Keep your original PDF untouched in case you need to start over.
