# How can I change size of PDF on phone?

I need to shrink a large PDF on my phone because an application portal caps uploads at 5 MB. I tried re-saving it, but how do I actually reduce the file size without a computer?

had the same thing last month. i just open it in files, tap share or print and save as pdf again, sometimes it compresses a little. if that doesn’t work i take photos of the pages with the camera and stick them in a note. tbh phones are pretty limited for this.

If the PDF is mostly scans or photos, use a phone PDF app’s “compress” or “reduce file size” option and choose medium quality first. Adobe Acrobat and PDFcap both have mobile-friendly compression tools; check the resulting file still keeps small text readable. If it is still over 5 MB, split out any unnecessary pages or rescan at about 150 dpi rather than using the original camera images.
