I have a PDF I need to convert to JPG for an upload but every try so far makes the text and details look blurry. Is it possible without any quality loss?

had the same thing last month with one of my planner pdfs. i opened it in chrome, zoomed way in till the text looked huge, screenshotted it, then pasted into paint and saved as jpg. tbh it came out a lot less blurry than the other ways i tried.

Blurry text on conversions is so annoying, especially when I deal with site drawings at work. I use [pdfcap.com](http://pdfcap.com) to fix this. You just upload your file, hit the convert to image tool, and choose JPG with the quality set to high. It keeps the fine lines and text perfectly readable without blowing up the file size.

Bit of a myth that “no quality loss” with a format change from vector/text to a raster image, but you can get it crisp if you bump the resolution.

1. Export or print the PDF at a higher DPI (300 or more) before converting, rather than letting it default to something like 72.
2. Keep a backup of the original PDF first, obviously, in case you need to redo it.

Avoid resizing the JPG afterwards in some random viewer, that’s usually where the extra blur creeps in.

Not completely, since JPG is raster and uses lossy compression. Export the PDF at 300 DPI or 600 DPI with maximum JPG quality, ideally using Acrobat or GIMP; avoid screenshots. If the upload accepts PNG, use that instead because small text stays sharper.

You can get a very good JPG, but not literally lossless since JPG always compresses and a PDF may contain vector text. Export or render the page at 300 DPI minimum, or 600 DPI if the upload allows a large file, then use maximum JPG quality. If the site accepts PNG, try that instead for pages with text; it usually stays much sharper.

JPG always compresses a bit, so truly zero loss isn’t possible, but you can get close enough that nobody notices. At the help desk I tell people to export at 300 dpi with quality set to max and text stays sharp. If the upload also accepts PNG, use that instead, it’s lossless and way better for text anyway.
